On December 26, 2024, the Laboratory Department of Xi'an International Medical Center Hospital received the ISO 15189 Medical Laboratory Accreditation Certificate issued by the China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment (CNAS), officially becoming a medical laboratory accredited by ISO 15189 Quality and Capability Accreditation.

Obtaining ISO15189 recognition represents the global mutual recognition capability of medical laboratory results at Xi'an International Medical Center Hospital. Each laboratory report is not only valid domestically, but also recognized by authoritative institutions in multiple countries and economies around the world, truly achieving "report in hand, international recognition." Having an "international pass" for laboratory results not only reduces the cost of re examination for patients in different hospitals, but also saves a lot of time and energy.

ISO 15189 is a quality management and competency accreditation standard developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) for medical laboratories. It is the most authoritative and widely used quality management system and competency building standard for medical laboratories internationally, and also the main specification and benchmark for international integration. Passing ISO15189 laboratory accreditation means that the inspection report issued by the laboratory can be mutually recognized by laboratories in most countries and regions around the world, making it more convenient for international exchange and cooperation.

Since its establishment, the quality system of the laboratory has been carried out in accordance with JCI, Class III, and 15189 standards, with the ultimate goal of providing high-quality, fast, and safe medical services to patients. JCI's evaluation has strengthened communication between departments and patients, and paid attention to patients' privacy rights; Pay attention to the management of reagent consumables and hazardous chemical storage; Attention has been paid to the handling process of fire safety, occupational exposure, and emergency incidents. The new third tier evaluation standards comprehensively integrate the advantages of various standards. In the preparation for the third tier evaluation conducted throughout the hospital, the laboratory department strengthened the learning and training of basic skills, basic theories, and industry standards. With the help of the medical education department and nursing department, the laboratory department achieved the third tier standards in fifteen quality indicators, significantly improving the quality control and TAT time before inspection, laying the foundation for the smooth evaluation of 15189. The new CNAS ISO 15189 laboratory accreditation review has further strengthened the ability of each sub specialty, position, and staff member to implement industry standards and regulations, and improved their professional and technical level. Improved the department management system, quality system, and risk and safety defense, reaching the international standardization level. At the same time, the three-day on-site review and subsequent project improvements provided the inspection department with an opportunity for face-to-face learning and exchange with experts, accumulating experience for next year's supervisory review.
